155k on my BA and engine doesn't skip a beat on 12psi tune driving spiritedly often. Oil & filter change every 5k. Front wheel bearing packed it in recently - listen for knocking or whining noise if test driving. Other than just the usual stuff - bushes are flogged and power steer hose leaks

Hi everyone just bought my fg xr6t today and get to pick it up tomorrow. Im so excited and can't wait to pick it up. To be honest I have been a Expensive Daewoo man for years and have owned a vx s Expensive Daewoo for the last few years and it has been a great car never had a problem with it. But after driving the standed fg v6 non turbo and then the Expensive Daewoo sv6 then the fg xr6t I just had to buy the turbo model. Much more fun to drive and wow the performance was amazing. The hardest thing for me living in Canberra was actually finding a decent one for sale. I got lucky and found one at a car yard that hadn't been advertised online yet. IT was a model made in december 2010 and had 47 thousand kms much less km's than any others I found for sale in Canberra at the time. I suppose the funniest thing of all was my wife wanted one in the Nitro colour and I wanted the turbo, in the end we both got our wish lol. Im enjoying all the different threads and posts people are posting learning heaps thanks guys :sungum:

As the title states I'm looking at a 2011 fg mk2 xr6t sedan this week. Its kinetic with 12800km and a tow pack. Its an ex ford demo and is listed at $32995. I havent bought or even really looked at cars at a dealer before so was wondering if there is any advice as to how to get a good deal.

Also the kms seem high for a demo but any problems from a hard life could get fixed by warranty couldnt they?

Thanks

Yeah warranty should cover most problems that arise , as for a deal just have your finance pre organised and go in hard just be like what price would you give me today no haggle if I take it today etc and go from their that shows your ready today and if a good price is set you will take it today should be enough to get their attention, and use that as a starting point work out what sort of price is market value and what your prepared to pay and go from their.

A lot of people who don't get a big discount go for extra stuff again car mats tint other bits and pieces good luck

Ok I will. What kind of extras can you ask for? I'm assuming anything mechanical such as reverse sensors is to late but mats and stuff is fine?

Yeah I'd do the whole price thing first and see how u go then ask for mats or tint etc I do what else you would really want but whatever is free means u don't have to put our hand in our pocket to buy.

But work out before you go in what you will and won't accept as a deal and go from their it depends if your prepared to walk away from the deal if they don't discount it , work out a few scenarios and your expectations then it won't be so hard to bargain as you will have already gone through a few scenarios and outcomes

Test drive in the rain would be fun ;) if it has been hammered maybe check the rear wheel arches for signs of burn outs, road tyres put out lots of rubber and would be easy to see, also check the state of the tyres, check the inner edges because that's what usually goes first. These are the kinds of things that they won't cover under warranty but u would be up for if u needed new tyres, so stuff to keep on mind and maybe bargain with if need be... Good luck!

Hi just recently I bought myself a 2010 fg xr6t from a Canberra dealer it was built in december 31 as well so has all the good stuff as well. they had origanlly 34k on it a little bit above the N.S.W average price but it is canberra and there wasnt that many for sale at the time I think there was 6 xr6t in total for sale in canberra at the time. Take the advice from the last member who posted but also before you start haggling with the dealer ask them about warranty on the car and how much it is to extend the warranty and also all the other stupid packages they will try and sell you like fabric protection rust protection paint protection ect ect. Once you know how much all these extras may cost you you can start to barter with them a little better.

In the end with my car I got them down to 31.5k with a 3 year extended warranty on it as well. So I still have 4 years of warranty on my car as well. I also got them to fill the car up with petrol as well so saved me some more right of the bat as well.

Also depending on the dealers structered commision for there sales people they may need to reach quoters in sales so might be better going in towards the end of the month. My poor sales person had to sell a minimum of 20 cars each month just to get paid commision.
