Anyways,

Today I rang up to upgrade my current plain foxtel, to foxtel digital. I was all cheery and thinking "woohoo, it'll be available in only 2 weeks."... WRONG!

The earliest install that they could give me is 28th July. That's almost 5 months away. The girl on the other end of the line said that Foxtel were looking for installers and even said "If you know anybody who can install these kinds of things, tell them to give foxtel a call".. haha..

My only luck is that another install is cancelled, and they may bump me up a few. She said to "ring every few weeks to see if another install time becomes available".

Oh well, atleast the 3 month wait for the T prepared me for these kinds of waits. This wait will be piss easy in comparison.

Sorry to say this to ya Krash, but in "Smog Central" my install date is only 4 weeks away - April 3rd. Only rang up on Monday and I expected to be waiting 3-4 months... Maybe being a foundation Foxtel subscriber put me on some "lucky bas*ard" list. :nyaah:

argh!!!!!... Fricken hell.. I got foxtel as soon as Galaxy went under. I remember that I went to the FIFA world XI Vs Australia game at the official opening of Stadium Australia. They had a Soccer Expo and foxtel were there. I had that install done in about 5 days "because I ordered at the expo". Oh well... Got sorta good news.. My brother recons he knows a bloke that does the Foxtel Installs. I think I've heard of him too. May have to ask a cosuin of a cousin to get in contact with him... "give you a few slabs if you install it on the weekend".... Will see, but very doubtful :(

I get mine on Tuesday 9th March....early adopters list and. The day of release for installs. It actually starts on the 14th March. If you didn't know the box is a HD Digital Decoder and free to air channels will be transmitted through it...so you don't have to fork out $900 on a HD box for your HDTV. Channel 9 & SBS will be transmitting from the start. 2, 7 & 10 will be coming on in the 1st month. This applies to Satellite as well.

Great News.....but I still think it's way too expensive at $95 a month for Platinum.

Yeah I agree, we went with the $68.95 that has the base and 3 blue boxes, seems the best value.

The second box is also $24.95, bit steep.

I know several people who already have it (Foxtel Staff) and they like the 5.1 surround sound. HD will rock, my inlaws have just got a 86cm panasonic HD TV and it is awsome. I am looking at the 106 NEC plasma HD panel......

Plasma....unless you are limited in space don't get one for two reasons. 1. They have a life span (Gas runs down to about 70% loosing picture quality and brightness). 2. If the Panel gets white spot where a pixel burns out, it can't be fixed and the Plasma TV will need to be replaced. I am also getting the latest 86cm widescreen Panasonic HD TV, Model: TX-86PW200A. It has 1080i resolution and is beautful. CRT is always the best option over Plasma, LCD & Rear Projection.
