Having purchased my FG XR6T MANUAL new in 2008, I've regretted not opting for the ZF. Reasons: * The ZF auto is quicker. * The ZF auto masks any driveline shunt * The ZF auto doesn't have any rollover noise issues. Lining up an XR6T manual against a VW Golf turbo with a DSG gearbox, the DSG VW catches up with the XR6T at every gear change. I guess a more brutal gear change in the XR6T might overcome that but who wants to drive without mechanical sympathy? TR6060 advantages over the ZF Auto: * Can the TR6060 handle more power? * Fewer broken input shafts? * Better resale prices for the manual? Which is more popular amongst 2nd hand car buyers? With the advent of the supercharged XR8, I assume that there's a much stronger ZF input shaft. If so can it be fitted into the XR6T ZF auto box? k31th less WHY; more WOT Site Developer 29,162 Member For: 16y 9m 16d Gender: Male Location: Melbourne Posted 08/03/19 11:44 PM Share Posted 08/03/19 11:44 PM A stock TR6060 can handle more power and torque than a stock ZF. A "built" ZF can handle ridiculous power, though. They basically don't break the input shaft, especially in the same way that ZF's do. They do have issues with flywheel bolts and clutch slave cylinders. Better resale, yep, due to the "rarity", these days. Nope, the supercharged XR8 has the same ZF (6HP26) as the XR6T's. But there's a 6R80 from stateside that a 6HP26 can be modified to include it's stronger internals. (an option for those who don't want to just "build" their 6HP26 stronger). I might be one of the few that would look at converting a TR6060 XR6T to a "Built" ZF. PAH

Stage 1 - standard shaft with extra clutches $2500. Stage 2 - cryo shaft box 500kws$3950. Stage 3 - billet shaft box 600kw $4950. Stage 4 - 6r80 shaft 650kws $5950 (requires new stall convertor). The last time that I spoke to Daryn's (Formerly Spiro's car), he had 1524 rwhp with still more left it it. His magnum has survived so far.... So no problems with box failures.

Steve Capuzzo's 1200hp Falcon took all of the teeth off 5th gear when he was in the powerskid comp at Powercruise a few years ago... But you can hardly blame the box in this instance..
