I'm wondering if it is something to do with the shifter or the shifter electronics. I don't know if its the transmission itself as there have been times where the car would not start until I moved the shifter back and forth (not sure what pattern exactly) and it eventually started. I have noticed that when it does go into neutral while I am driving, it's usually while driving at low speed and in lower gears like 2 or 3. Most of the times it has happened I have either been idle at lights or slowly going through a roundabout, and always within the first 10km of driving from start. Mine is a 6 speed and yours is a 5. I am not sure what is common in these as they are completley different gearboxes, so maybe it is an electronic thing? maybe the Shifter mechanism and the way it communicates with the PCM is the same between the 2? I always get the codes below when it happens. P0705 - Transmission Range Sensor Circuit Malfunction B2681 (PRNDL Sender Failure)
Charlief New Member 8 Member For: 7y 10m 21d Posted 02/04/20 08:53 AM Author Share Posted 02/04/20 08:53 AM I finally fixed the issue. I was replacing the coils and spark plugs with original Ford coils and some NGK iridium plugs. When I was removing the coils, I found the coil on cylinder 2 and 3 were soaked in oil and the spark plug well was full of oil. Anyway I got a new gasket kit from super cheap and I then removed valve cover. The old gasket was an absolute pain to remove, took me 3 hours. I put everything back, and I removed as much oil as possible from the spark plug wells and tried it out. At first it gave me the same symptoms on first drive, but since then, it’s been perfect. Maybe there was still some oil in there, but now it’s burnt up. I thought I got it all. Anyway it all works now. The past 3 weeks it started doing it every single time I drove the car, and now no longer.
