I've had a look around and I can't seem to find any information that I'm after so I apologise if this has been covered before but I recently bought an manual FG XR6 turbo 2014 from a dealer and Ive noticed a loud thud/knock in the rear end when changing gears quickly from first to second.  It sounds like the rear diff bushes that are worn but the dealership has told me that they have replaced all 3 bushes and that it is very common that the FG manual gearbox makes a thud when shifting quickly. This doesn't sound right to me and I was wondering if anyone else with a manual has experienced this.

In my ol' BA XR6T I used to get loud diff clunk when changing into reverse.  Diff clunk is pretty common.  I gotta admit though in my FPV FG F6 I haven't heard it (or maybe I've been conditioned :roflmbo: )

Lol unfortunately not... Thanks for the offer though. Does your car manual do it as well or not. Like I said it only happens when shifting first to second really quick. Ford dealership say they have had heaps of complaints but it is totally normal with the FG manuals.

I change gears quick(I hope) and do change from 1st to 2nd fast.

I can't say that I have noticed the thud. However if you disengage the Go fast pedal first and then the clutch, you get that thud.

Try and disengage both clutch and go fast pedal at the same time and you tend to reduce that thud.

It is even more evident if the diff bushes have been swapped out from factory components to something like nolathane diff bushes, like the ones I have.

Yeh I see what your saying... The thud happens pretty much once it is in second gear and then the clutch has been released. So basically at the end. Of the cycle.  I know all 3 diff bushes have been replaced (not sure what kind)

Maybe that has something to with it.
