I think the stock blow off valves are fitted back to front because they are fitted with the piston side on the turbo intake side and not on the just before the throttle body side. What do you guys think about it?

No, they just operating slightly differently to aftermarket BOVs. They actually seal better than most aftermarket valves.

I wonder why they fit them how they do? They are just relying on vacuum to pull piston off the seat a bit to pass some air, seems really dumb. I couldn't hear the stock bov doing any whoosh sound at all, then I put on a turbosmart kompact plumback on the correct way and I can hear it a little bit. I'm wondering if the stock bov does anything at all, which is a bit concerning if it could be causing compressor slow down.

 

I think the way the aftermarket ones are plumbed vent easier, at least I know mine does. I had to really get on it and then back off real quick to get the stock one to vent. Aftermarket one vents with way less effort.

Keith is right - they look different. I put my Kompact on backwards initially as I copied the factory orientation.

Factory definitely works - if it didn't you would hear compressor surge.

Remember too that the factory one is designed to be ultra quiet. My Kompact Dual Port makes much more noise than the factory BOV, even when set to full recirc (like it always is).

Set it to 50-50 for a day for LOLs. Sounds particularly stupid in an FG where it goes off after only light throttle.

I still reckon the stock bov has the fastest tututututututu flutter machine out.
Had that replacement dual port, 32mm dual port and now twin 50mm race ports. 32mm was best sorta stock but twin 50mm is the best dose though.
