You get the right trans mate? You can't put an fg trans into a bf etc cos the tcm is different.

 

What codes are being shown? You can clear codes with a scan tool or tuning tool but I have a feeling that this isn't going to help here.

 

@NA_TURBO loves getting his stuff relinked by ford. I'm sure he'll share his knowledge when he sees this.

I think system comms is when you give it to ford to flash. I've never had to deal with that so someone else can confirm what you need to do.

 

If it's tuned then you'll wanna make sure that the tune is still intact after or you'll be up the sh*t.

If you're trying to swap a ZF from another car into yours, you'll need to put your TCM module into the new box otherwise it won't work. Not sure if Fraud is able to flash the TCM to your car.

From what I understood you can swap the same models without swapping the actual tcm unit. I think you couldn't swap different models because the operating system was different.

hi again fellas so I have swapped the old tcm onto the new transmission now the transmission fault code has gone just the system fault code still appears , my mate ended up getting one of his friends that owns a shop to use the scanner tool to scan and he is getting shifter module fault , hes tried clearing the code but just appears again , anyone might one what the issue is ? thanks in advance

There's a white sticker on the side of the gearbox with a code on it. you have to have the same code on the new gearbox or it won't work .Only ZF can recode the megatronics unit, ford can't. If you can find the right gearbox you can (with the car on a hoist) plug the new gearbox into the car & check that you can clear the codes (the wires are long enough to reach the other gearbox) If your new gearbox is good the codes will clear & stay away. This takes the guess work out of 'will it fix it' before you go to all the trouble of fitting it
