What exhaust for 270+rwkw

Hey guys, ive got a stock 2007 bf mk2 xr6 turbo and want to hit around the 260-270rwkw mark.. what exhaust would you use for a custom tune? Would xforce twin 2.5" from the cat back be enough? Thanks.. any other mods advice would be great.. cheers.

just changing the catalytic convertor for a 100cpsi option would be enough for that aim. It might even get there on the stock one, but it'll struggle. Mostly you just need injectors and a tune for that.

Okay cheers man.. are injectors completely necessary for that? I was under the impression that 300rwkw+ would call for injectors and fuel pump etc? But yeah if I just got 2.5 inch twin exhaust from the catback and tune that would be good for 260rwkw+? Thanks for the reply

Stock injectors are pretty weak and you don't want to be running them at high duty cycles to get a result of high 200's. high 200's to low 300's is where you'd want to use an upgraded lift pump. Injectors would be your limit with just a 2x2.5in cat-back exhaust and a tune. Like I said, the only restrictive part of the stock exhaust at that point is the catalytic convertor, so a cat-back exhaust won't necessarily help for making power (it'll sound better, though, so it's worth it from that point of view).

 

Basically, stock as a rock with a tune only and a K&N filter you can get 250ish rwkw. To go 10-20 more rwkw, you need injectors, to go the next step you need a fuel pump/catalytic convertor, to go the next step you need other mods etc etc.

As k31th said ,the main restriction in the exhaust is the cat, if you want better sound by all means change the full system but for that output stock (other than the cat) is well & truly up to it. (changing the cat will need a tune immediately as the vehicle WILL overboost) If you change the injectors bosch 1000cc ones will give you a bit of headway for future mods while still behaving at least as good as stock. A walbro 460 drop in module & modified reg will give you scope for further mods if you go down that path later- try & buy bigger than what you think you need or if you want more later you have to buy it again

Thanks so much guys for the detailed responses.. I rang the guy that will do the tune.. heinrich performance in adelaide the go to guy for anything falcon.. and he said for the 10psi tune stock how it is now will be right to pull 260rwks+ when you hit the 300rwkw mark that's when injectors are needed and other mods etc.

well, PM @JETURBO to see if he can do the tune for you, instead. Wouldn't trust somebody who says your stock injectors can get anywhere near 300rwkw

Also would it be silly to leave stock twin 2.25" exhaust system on but change to high flow cat? Cheers.

nah, you can leave the stock exhaust in place, just replace the cat, if you like it quiet still. But if you want the nicer sound, then an upgrade is a reasonable idea.

recommended injectors is whatever your tuner recommends that matches your budget.
