Rocker cover engine bolt threads stripped!

Yeah fark knows why if true. That's gotta be the stupidest thing next to the pull out method.

6 in the caps. 2 in the front. Are the front 2 OK. Were they stripped before the shop work. Did they even remove the R/C cover. It maybe not what you think...

I cant put it down to anything else there was metal coming out with the bolts when I removed them( no I didnt strip them) I removed them only with a 3/8 10mm socket. And I would use my torque wrench to retention to specs.

What do you suggest is happening?

Yes the did to replace the gasket... about 2 months ago.

I wish it was that easy mate the shop was in sydney, im on the central coast I run a buisness and a dad, I dont have time for this sh*t.

See if you can find a mobile thread repair ( there will be one all the workshops know of someone) He will come out & helicoil the bolt holes or you can go to repco or bursons & buy a kit & do it your self. The kit will come the right drill bit, the coils & the spanner.  I don't know about changing the cam caps, aren't they supposed to be align honed?  (but if you gotta do what you gotta do...)

Cheers for the reply I also thought they were aligned from factory if I was to change them id have to use a plastagauge to measure the 300s of a mm to get it competly even.

This^ helicoil them it'll be stronger then the original thread into the aluminium. Changing caps is not a good idea.
