Gun40t Member 98 Member For: 7y 5m 11d Posted 24/04/18 09:11 AM Share Posted 24/04/18 09:11 AM Evening fellas, So recently I had a shop (undisclosed) repair some stuff on my car but ive noticed apon changing the rocker cover gasket the 6 main bolts that hold the rocker cover are just spinning, last night I tried to tap a thread M7x0.75, (rocker cover leaking oil) because of this Went to a bolts and bearing shop found a M7x1.00 tapped that because it was the only thing that would work. I got new bold ect my last resort is going to be to use a heli-coil has anyone used this method before also, how far can u stretch the factory bolt holes, ive gone to 1.00 now I dont want to push it anymore then that cheers. I mean mechanic uses a rattle gun and is trigger happy rocker cover bolts go into cam caps, it is possible to pull the caps and re drill/tap them to suit a new bolt could even get new or second hand caps that aren’t stripped out and go again on it pretty easy to rectify buddy 1 Link to comment Share on other sites More sharing options...
