Spent a couple of weeks or so doing the North Island a few years ago (was based in Ngaruawahia, near Hamilton and toured from there).

Went down as far as Rotorua and up to the north to the Bay of Islands

Bay of Islands was definitely work the overnight trip.

Was definitely like a stretched out version of Tassie ;)

Sorry slow reply from me.  I'd have to wait to closer to the time to sort out time off to align with this.

But yea could be interesting to meet some of you.

I'm based in the Christchurch area myself.

Guess it's down to whether you have interest from a group to go.

Yeah - it's a long shot, but am keen to head over myself so just seeing if anyone wants to tag along - cruises are a blast with a few extras.

Brand new xr6 turbo owner and first post!  Live in Christchurch and love the idea of a Falcon tour of the S.I. !

just returned home from NZ.

drove from wellington to Auckland. beautiful scenery. twisty roads made the back seat passengers sick so I wouldnt want to be in the back as a passenger hahah

the weather was mostly ok, but frustrating as sh*t its sunny, then cloudy, then raining, then sunny then cloudy, then raining again. goes like this for most days all day.

and be warned, the locals or tourists just pull out in front of you while on any road, usually the 100 k zones, making you brake hard and almost clean them up. I lost count how many times they did this, they just dont give a sh*t and dont accelerate fast to get up to speed.

and they dont advertise there speed cameras. everywhere and in all the 50kay zones. its 50 almost everywhere!!!!. painful.

all fixed, but you dont see them, they mix them in with light poles and other signs.

only 1-2 came up on the loaner GPS, which was not updated as one of the motorways I used wasnt on there.

oh and the amount of sh*tty road works going on there is a joke. every few kays theres a patch of unattended road works they half assed started and left littered with stones/pot holes. so glad I got a rental hahahah.
