Decided that since we are going to have our XR6T for 3 years that it was time to finally get a handsfree car kit.

Fortunately both my wife and l own Ercisson phones that have built in Bluetooth, so we went for the recently released Ericsson Bluetooth car kit. Took the dealer maybe half an hour at the most to install in our car as the BA has all the industry standard pre wiring installed. It integrates perfectly with the audio, muting the radio and putting the call through the cars speakers. The bluetooth wireless link also works very well. The only evidence that the kit is fitted is a little control module with buttons for volume, answering/ending calls etc mounted on the centre console to the right of the ICC screen.

Cost $499 supplied and fitted, expensive but worth it. l would recommend it to anyone considering this option.

Yeah there is no need for a phone craddle and all you need is to do is have the phone in the car and yes it even works if your phone is in the boot but if you wish to charge your phone you require a car phone charger. Note: this type of car kit does not increases signal strenght and does not require an external antena.

Sound great, any photos Mondie?

With bluetooth does the phone have a cradle or does it just have to be in the car to work?

Sorry, no digital camera, l must get one someday so l can post some photos of our car.

The attachment is a photo from Ericssons website. This is all you see, the rest is mounted behind the dash. No crade needed, the phone can be in your pocket or the boot and you can still answer calls and make voice dialled calls from the controller. Neat system. No external aerial but it can be done but then the phone needs to go in a cradle so there would be no point to the bluetooth car kit anyway.

l have a T68i and my wife a T39. Both work perfectly with the kit.

l think there is one or two other phones from Ericsson with bluetooth but l am unsure of there models no's.

Nokia have Bluetooth in a least one of their phones but even though Bluetooth is meant to be 100% cross compatible l think Nokia have made things not quite as they should be so you stick with their accessories. Just what l heard, it maybe be BS.

Nokia 6310, 6310i, 8910, and the 6210 (with bluetooth battery) are the only Nokia's with bluetooth.

Sadly they are not putting it on all their phones:(

The Nokia bluetooth phones will work with all bluetooth accessories, as bluetooth is a standard.

Just like betamax was a standard?

or 802.11g?

or CDWORM?

Advisory only... companies try to jump the gun to get something out there, and end up having a hell of a lot of compatibility issues.

Moral of story: Test the kit with your phone BEFORE you get it installed.... :)
