I cant seem to find old dyno graphs but I was lucky enough to have my car dynod 3 times in a week with different stages of mods.

Stock was 246 then again with injectors, tune and intercooler was 280-285 and then when the exhaust finally arrived it made 302 on 15psi.

No fuel pump at that stage and im sure with more boost you could get pretty close to 300 with out exhaust mods but that is an fg mk1 and I dont recall my year of car having the restrictor ring.

I didnt go for flapper mods or any turbo modifications as I was always going bigger.

Also till this day I still run factory crossover with a growler airbox that has been hacked at one too many times and that was on the car when it made 500 on e85.

As said by rab get the auto looked at and tuned because mine lasted not even a year with the huge amounts of torque going thru it but I was already planning on getting it built and didnt treat it nicely

Hope this wall of text helps

Nah, the MKI had a more restrictive cat than the MKII.

Euro emission gave the II a freer flowing cat, Ford gave it the restrictor ring to match the original flow. Removing it means the cat is no longer such a limiting factor on the exhaust side.

The tune won't really protect the box, just get it to change quicker, sharper, lessen the flare and fart and get rid of the 1st gear lurch and allow you to stall the car up.

Ah the gold old first gear lurch. Where pulling up to a stop sign felt like getting rear ended by a bus. How far we have come.

Also look at getting diff bushes done which is not cheap and better brakes as it always amazed me how under braked these cars felt stock.

..endless mony pit

I know it's not a performance mod but you might also - if not done already - want to look at replacing the factory heat exchanger for the auto, to avoid the chance of the dreaded "milkshake", for peace of mind and saving you some expense later down the track of having to source a replacement ZF.
