well, a T56 is actually a completely different gearbox to a T5... My T56 I've got sitting around is 23 spline, but that's no help to you, since it's most definitely a different gearbox :spoton:

Correct the T5Z and T56 have the same OD and spline count so you can get a T5Z clutch package that’s interchangeable with T56

I cant exactly recall with detail the exact difference between T5 NA box and the Turbo T5z box but one is worth $50 and the other can still sell for $1000 due to the difference

Sorry I can’t be more specific buddy

then those numbers I quoted above from an ebay listing are clearly the wrong way around for the turbo listing, in terms of the OD and spline...

Which if what you said that the turbo fitted T5 gearbox (call it a T5Z if you want, I can't find anything official calling it that...) has an interchangeable OD/spline setup to the T56 I have sitting around, then the clutches should be interchangeable for N/A I6 T5 to all turbo T56's, as long as the "size" of the clutch fits inside the bellhousing (unless those numbers are the wrong way around for both of those listings haha)...

best to call Mal Wood and confirm, though...

this link is for N/A falcons jan 2002 (earliest BA's) onwards ->

from the stats listed there, they are both 26.2mm OD, 23 spline., but are just different on the "size" of the friction surface only...

that's what those links do, in confirming what I originally thought... but I'd be calling Mal Wood to be 100% sure, as I don't have the hardware in front of me to be 100% sure :)

Hello

Im going to dig up an older topic here, I have just spoken with Extreme clutch as im looking to change the clutch in my BA NA turbo converted ute.

From my understanding of the conversation the turbos models only have a different clutch because they have more bell-housing clearance and can run a larger clutch cover - the clutch disc will fit the NA / turbo 5 and 6 speed (ba/bf models - fg was not asked about).

The recommended option from Extreme was to run the twin plate clutch, because the twin plate is actually smaller in design - it will hold the power of an upgraded engine and will actually allow you to run any of the gearboxes.

Hi Guys,

Im still a little unsure from the discussion above ...

Can anyone confirm:

Will a T5 Standard box fit into replace a T5Z in a Turbo Ute?

I know they are not as strong and its technically a downgrade - but I need a cheap fix to keep my ute moving (and can pick one up for a few hundred bucks but I dont want to bother if its not going to work) .

From what I read above - I could not see a definative answer - Has anyone ever replaced their turbo t5z with a non turbo t5 box?
