Great job cdm you pioneer! Where did you end up getting the software? (Sorry if I missed it in one of your later posts)

Mate I ended up taking the plunge and getting it off eBay for $280 however I will update whenever the newer version comes out because a major bit of freeway near my house is missing in this version (even though its the latest version). I think this one (V.90) must have been made about 2002.

Hmmm.....good question. I probably spent about 8 hrs fiddling around doing research, plugging it all in and unpluging it then testing and trying to find everything! Now that I know where everything is I rekon I could probably do it again in about 3hrs or less.

I spent ages trying to find the VSS and also had to stop and start a few times. Also at first I didn't know which plugs to look for or where I would run all the cables. With the photos I have taken though it should be pretty easy for the next person.

Voy are you interested in doing it yourself? Is anyone else? If so I will put it all into a doc with explanations to make it easier. Let me know.

Cheers,

Chris

I would be interested to know from anyone what type fo signal the LCD screen in the ford can take.

Do we actually require the Blau box at all?

Is the BA/DVD intereface needed?

It seems to me that the Blau box only lets us run multiple video sources in & out so if I only wanted to plug one thing in like the sat nav why do I need this box for assuming my sat nav has teh right video level to plug into the BA/DVD box.

Ok so question are

1. What video signal is required to into the LCD

2. What video signal is required to plug into the BA/DVD box?

answering these two will allow me to answer if the Blau box is needed.

Thanks

Wayne

As far as I can gather Wayne if you want to run video on the BA screen it must be in NTSC format. You are correct that the signal converter box is not required if all you want to do is run the sat nav (this is how mine is at the momment - no signal converter). However if you want to run video it will more than likely have a composite output which needs to be converted to RGB using the box to output it to the monitor. I guess if you could find a DVD player that played in NTSC and had an RGB output you might not need it?

There are really good instructions on the fordmods (Click) website as to how to create your own VGA cable for the premium screen if you want to run a laptop etc. I am not sure how the switching works though? Aarron helped come up with it and is a member here - he should be able to help you.

All you really need for pure satnav is the computer (DXN or DXV), the BA interface cable ($189) and the 4m RGB extension cable ($59) as well as a few cheaps bits of wire and connectors etc.

I will get to work on the doc soon!
