Falchoon = :smilielol: Everyones a comedian....

Anyways, is it the 5502 model that needed, or the 5501? Is the 5501 the superseeded model, and will it work?

Reason being that $350us seems to be the going online price for the 5502, the 3302 is $250us, but I have found a place that is still listing the 5501 at $179.95 (I assume it is old stock). This converts to $233 aud, not including import duty or shipping.

So say $250 for the converter, $180 for the cable, plus whatever hardware you want to run......not bad.... :smilielol:

*edit* ok just re-read the thread and KrasH has a 5501 manual, so it must work.....

As for the xbox...  $500 for the mod.... damn I wish I was charging that much for them when I did it for peopel it'd mean I had the cash to finish my install ;)  Got my ICs to build the new powers supply a couple of days ago...  $35 each...  ouch.. but they will step up 5v DC to 12v which means the unit will survive 'crank'.

G'day Aaron. I knew $500 bucks was steep when I did it but I went ahead for a couple of reasons. Every other mod I found only allowed an upgraded HD to about 100-150gig I wanted 200. I can rip DVD's straight from the xbox to the HD with this mod, it came with all the software so I did not have to find the software and flash the chip myself... I could have got a chip for about $40 and soldered it in myself, but then u risk stuffing it, and also have to find all the software etc. And on top of that, your limited in HD size. The actually mod was about $200 and I got the HD off ebay for $295 So I guess it's about $160 more than the alternative but worth it in extra benefits. With this HD I should be able to mount the box, and never look at it again untill I want to add something to the HD. In which case, I just plug the network cable into the car (xbox in car) and dump!

Trumpy, I think I know the site your talking about and I have already emailed them :D Here's the response:

"Presently, we only accept orders being shipped within the US, Canada, and US territories and require that any credit card used for payment be issued from a US or Canadian bank.

An alternative used by some international customers is to ship orders to a US or Canadian address first. They then make arrangements to have the products forwarded to their final overseas destination. These customers will arrange for payment via International Money Orders or Cashiers Check drawn in US Dollars.

Please note that SoundDomain.com is not responsible for damage or loss to merchandise that is shipped in the method described above. Also, manufacturer's warranties will not apply outside of the United States and Canada. Finally, any customs charges, duties, taxes, etc. are the sole responsibility of the purchaser - SoundDomain.com will not assist with such situations.

Please note that we are working hard to serve the global car audio and mobile electronics market and plan to offer our products to our international customers at some point in the future.

Thank you for your interest in our company."

So.....who has a buddy in the states?

Thanks for all the input guys!

that's a bugger cdm, I was waiting on an email for confimation.

Next plan, my bro is in Whistler (canada) for the next couple of months working in the skifields. I could get it delivered to him, and have him bring it back in his suitcase, or post it back. I wonder......

*trumpy puts thinking cap on*

So is that the right unit? the IVSC-5501. $179 US is a good price I reckon...

Good news and bad news.

First, I emailed about a dozen US companies RE: IVSC-5501 and they all said they wont deliver to Australia................................except one...............This company (Click me) :D Parts Express! YAY!

Now, the bad news......as yet I have been unable to find anyone who will lend me the software to test my machine and evaluate it..... ;) Again, if anyone can help here it would be greatly appreciated. The current version for the Travelpilot is V.9.0 and RRP $345.

When I get around to it I will order the BA interface.....Does anyone know if I should purchase this through a shop or direct from Blaupunkt? Maybe a group purchase is in order.... :D

RGB 1.5m = $39

RGB 4.0m = $59

BA Interface = $189

So. About $260 for the IVSC from the states + $287 for these bits and pieces = $547 then you decide for yourself if you want Satnav or DVD or anything! I just got quoted $600 to install sat nav and Xbox or $400 for just sat nav!!

So there you have it folks, if your willing to install it yourself, it is definately possible to get satnav/dvd/mp3/games console etc all for $2000-$2500. About half the price of taking the easy route. :)

UPDATE: IVSC5501 arrived today from the states. It took approximately 8 days and cost me approximately 280AUD landed with express/insured post. I just rang a Blau dealer and have ordered the remaining parts which should be in by Friday. Out of interest I was quoted $490 for the IVSC-5501 so it is definately worth getting it from the states.

Final few hurdles:

+ Nav software - Still can't find a copy for evaluation purposes!

+ 300w inverter - Should be able to pick this up off ebay for about $90

+ DX-N I/r remote - The remote which comes with the DX-N is actually attached to the unit via a cable. I could mount the unit where the tissue holder is but I would prefer to mount it in the boot. This means I will have to buy an I/R remote which I think is about $100 and may need a software upgrade which is about $60.

It's slowly coming together. If anybody has or knows of anybody who has the Nav software could you please drop me a PM. Is it DVD or CD based? If not, is there any places that sell it cheap? Damn I'm a tightarse...haha
