Damn. Just goggled noisy lifters and Penrite comes up everywhere :( Oh well, see how the 10w50 goes in the morning.

Ive been using the Penrite racing 15w50 every oil change in my FG F6 since the 7500km service (car now has 63000kms on it) and its still nice and quiet on cold start ups

Just changed the Penrite out for Nulon again but this time went with the 5W40 fully syn as recommended by them. It was quieter in the valve train at start up but the big test will be tomorrow when I do a dead cold start. What it was doing was start pretty quietly then if you left it idle it would get what sounded like a lifter ticking around cyl 5 or 6 for a minute or so, until it got some temp. After that, quiet. I had thought it was a loose mani nut but no joy.

about 3 weeks ago I changed to 20w 60 penrite tenth pao ester . at start up the oil pressure is at idle about 40 psi ,and will not drop till about 10 klm of driving . only changed to the heavier oil for powerplay 7 february . at normal temp the oil pressure at idle is now at 23 psi where it used to sit with penrite 15 50 pao ester at 18 psi .and after every run at powercruise last september dropped all the way to 3-5 psi at idle

If yours is a mk2 they have put the correct oil in... mk2 are specified as 5w30 but most oil manufacturers 10w30 meets the ford spec and is cheaper so they put that in

I realise this post was made nearly 2 years ago but just looking to do an oil change at 22500, I just looked in the service booklet for my 2014 and it says 15w40 Castrol GTX Professional mineral oil. Anyway I'll get back in my box and keep reading.
