Gearbox and engines are NOT!!!!!SHELL doesn’t even list an F6!!!CALTEX are the same NO F6!!!
QikSmurf Member 246 Member For: 21y 5m 18d Posted 10/07/05 10:33 AM Share Posted 10/07/05 10:33 AM Just had my car serviced and they used castrol formula r synthetic. It is not cheap at around $125 just for the oil. The funny thing is that the owner hand book recommends a mineral oil rated at 14w 40??? I used to notice a slight tapet type sound at start up that would go away after 2 seconds. Since the new oil went in there is absolutely no ticking sound at startup. This only used to happen first thing in the morning so I'm not sure what oil was in it before?I had a go at my dealer for the price they charged me. Can you believe they also charged me $28 for "filter oil"? When confronted they apologised and said they would look after em at the next service. All up I paid over $150 just for engine oil not including filter and disposal of dangerous chemicals.Could be worse though. My work mate has an STi and he loves it more than moist people love their kids. The car has never - repeat ever - been in the rain!! He runs it on a racing Motul oil at an astonishing $40 per litre!!!

I hate the thought of my engine being stressed with sh1t oil but that's just how I feel, mines got the castrol R 10/60 in it already with only 1800 kms on it. Also bcoz I don't plan to hammer my beast non-stop (otherwise I'll lose my licence, job, car, house and then my marriage) like if I were on a track. So the Synthetic blend should be up to the task of my needs, though I'm more than likely to change my mind as the time to decide comes closer.Hope this is of some value and an interesting read, published in 1999, still relevant!Let me know if any problems with the host.http://rapidshare.de/files/9536407/Synthet...hoils_.zip.html

Maybe just use the save file as option in your browser and see how that goes. I used Firefox's save and all ok.Let me know if still any probs after that.
