I found the 0 to 40 waaaay too thin once the oil got hot... Motor became noisier than usual.. Noisier than usual to me means wear....

I think Ninka has expressed exactly what I was trying to say and its great knowing I can drop back to a longer interval between changes..

Ninka.. Do you know of any other filter for the Typhoon other than motorcraft... I thought they run the same filter as the GT but apparently they dont.... Has something to do with the larger oil cooler and volumn / flow....

But at operating temp 0W-40 is a 40 weight oil. It's only 0 weight at startup, when cold.

Anyhoo, I think either oil for the T engine is a good choice :laughing:

I haven't really looked into this yet, but there is definitely room for a longer filter if one can be found which will fit.

The 0W-40 sounds like a good choice for a stock engine. But the 10W-60 would give more protection to a modded engine. The key thing is that the oil is thin enough at startup, which 10W certainly is.

I use the 5W-30 Edge in my NA XR6 - seems good, and has improved fuel consumption compared to the 15W-40 dino oil that my Ford dealer put in at the last service.

Castrol advertise 0-40 Edge in the FPV drift car and it has 380kw, they make the stuff so they should know whats best!

This has been covered many times before.

For what it's worth though I emailed Castrol asking them what's best for a modified XR6T/F6 and they said 10W-60.

Not to mention those ads are all over the FPV owner mags...
