I ran the Penrite Racing 15 (15w50) last change after running Nulon 10w40 pretty much from new but dropped it out today after only 2.5k. Reason being, the engine was noisy at cold start. Lifted the bonnet today and it took close to a minute for the valve train to shut up. Yes I'm running firmer springs but the Nulon never did that.

I've given Penrite one last go but have gone with 10w-50 this time. See how we go cold start tomorrow.

I ran this on my last oil change 4000kms and its as quiet as a mouse, no different to the 10-40 ten tenths racing.

I am running penrite 10w-50 and I have no noise .jake has a fg turbo 6 and as soon as he changed to nulon his engine rattled on start up (timing chain rattle ) . he then changed to

penrite 10 w -40 and the rattle was gone .

I'm using Nulon 10-40 full syn in the 08 F6X. All sounds good as I am not sure what was previously used for the 90k km's prior to me buying but old mate tuned at HPV in Mackay so Shell maybe?

I always used Royal Purple 10-40 in the BA Turbo with good results even when I forgot and did 20,000km's before a service (60-80k!) :oooh:

Mower also loved the Royal Purple too and has been in there for 6yrs now without an oil change! It is fcking expensive though in comparison to normal oils...

Interesting gunna coz I found the exact opposite when switching back to nulon 10-40 from hpr10. Maybe it has more to do with the weight.

sorry mate but the oil I was talking about is the full synthetic Penrite racing 10tenths with pao ester . my next oil change will be heavier oil 10w-60 still penrite .Due to oil pressure

dropping very low after giving it a hard time at powercruise . every time it dropped to about 5 psi or lower,it must have been very hot .but after letting it cool down the oil pressure

was up to about 20 psi again

Well, pleased to say the 10w-50 is fine but....I'm a goose, lol.

You hear more valve train noise over 5 and 6 once you do the turbo side because of the cut outs in the coil cover (FG). Put a rag over it and it was quieter. Bought a N/A cover to finally finish it off - better again. But, the actual cause was a loose manifold nut - baha! Being an old kent I should know better :)
