When I do the oil and filter in a few weeks, is it a good idea to use an engine flush as I haven't a clue what oil has been used in the past (b4 I bought it) even though the cap and as far as I can get my finger in the old gal, seem clean ?? It does have a Havoline sticker on the windscreen but who knows what's been used..

Also, if price is no issue - within reason - which oil (brand & SAE) would you guys suggest for a 10/2010 fg that is driven every day but not far now that it's winter.

Turn it on, drive 5 or 10 minutes and that's it. Town where I live isn't real big and I might do that 2 or 3 times a day and the engine doesn't get a chance to warm up properly.

Book says oil must be SJ/CF (not 1 or other by itself) that is 15-40 but really would like to hear what you think.

$10-$25 for the flush depending on brands chuck it in old oil before oil change run 5-15 minutes at idle and dump it, nothing hard work mate hardest part is opening and closing the rocker cover rest is same as normal oil change.

I do a flush every 2-3 oil changes keeps everything a lot cleaner you could do a flush every change if you wanted to.

I recommend it to anyone who buys 2nd hand to do it first oil change as who knows what garbage oil and brands they mixed in prior.

Sx = petrol spec (s for spark ignition)

Cx = diesel spec (c for compression ignition)

I think SN and CJ are the latest

Excellent......it will get a good flush. Thanks heaps for that.

What about type (brand etc.) of oil, considering how I use it?

Cheers for your help
