For those of you who have the noise problem with the Premium Sound system, I received my car back from the Dealer today after the Crash Sensor Control Module was replaced.

My Sensor was a pre October 2003 version (AUG03) and there has been a revision to this part.

It has been replaced, and whilst it hasn't made the problem go away, for the first time I actually have AM Radio reception.

So anyone with poor or weak AM radio, go to your dealers and suggest that this part be checked for its manufacture date, and ensure that you get the latest revision.

Yes Mondie that's right

Only a slight improvement.

The Actual noise that was cut down / removed from my system was noise that I thought was there normally anyway because of the in Glass antennae.

This "fix" has improved that out of sight.

However it has done NOTHING to improve the original problem with engine speed related noise.

Nothing really doing there. I've gotten quotes :hrmm: , I've gotten trade in price indications :hrmm: and I've spoken to the dealer who said.......

"Not up to me its in the hands of Head Office!" :pinch:

So in other words, No!!!!!! but not in those exact words!

Hey Folks,

My XR6 Turbo Ute was built with standard audio as I didn't consider premium sound value for money in a Ute as the package doesn't include subwoofers due to space limitations. However, since purchasing my ute I have discovering the Blaupunkt interface that installs a DVD and Navigation System. Unfortunatley though the Blaupunkt system requires premium sound.

Do you think it could be possible to only upgrade to premium deck?

:hiwelcome:

As Mentioned in other threads here, the cost of going to the Full premium sound equipment and wiring loom would be prohibitive.

It would probably be better to get a professional installer to place a Screen elsewhere in the car and bypass the standard audio eqiupment.

Cameron, just curious as part of the diagnostics done on your car do you recall if they did any testing for ground loops etc?

I've chatted with a couple of people in the 'trade' and the suggestion has been that ground loops or poor groundings could cause a chunk of issues. Their suggestion was to re route a ground tot eh ICC etc...

I dunno - I'm inclined to try it... but really this is something I would have thought Ford would have worked out sooner ;)

Hi,

I was under the impression that if you had the standard audio system you could not upgrade to premium sound...

BUT,

Today we swaped the sound system in a xr6 Standard to Premium and it worked. You must use the body computer of the original system to keep all the security thingies and then reprogram the code of the new sound system.

So, If I had the standard audio, I would be looking around at the wreckers for a premium system without the premiun price.

As far as connecting it to a Ute...I think it would work! Some of the sound setting may have no effect but you could live with it.

All the heater functions also worked!

Regards

Hi Familia, are you getting the noise from you stereo when you are playing CD's threw your premium sound or when you have the radio on or both, I ask this because I have just had the blaupunkt DVD installed and I am getting a slight whilstle threw this now it is conected threw the AUX but I dont get any noises threw my cd player and my radio( apart from the noise of my music).

Ditto Daniel! I only get noise when playing MP3s through aux, main system is fine.

On another slightly related matter, I find that you need to crank the volume of both the MP3 player and the main car system right up to get any decent volume out of it. Not a big problem until you accidently bump the steering wheel stereo controls while turning and the system goes to CD (or worse) radio and nearly blows your eardrums and speakers at the same time. Is there a way of having similar volume output from aux and the main system?

I thought it may have been a problem due to the type of DVD I was playing I was going to play a CD threw the unit to see if the volume is still not as affective as my cd stacker!! would it be worth trying to get ford to try and fix this or is there no cure!?
