Man reading that hurt my head lol. I'll try to address the first part though as I think the last part is subjective.

More blades generally means more air from the get go ie: 6+6 will spool better than 11 blades but create more heat and run out of efficiency quicker.

6+6 (etc) have two blades very close to each other as you go around, but only 6 "spokes" so to speak.

The FG turbo has 7 blades, to be different :)

On the left is the Stock BA turbo, 6+6 blades

On the right is the Stock FG XR6T turbo, 7 blades

Opinion on what impact the 'type' of blade makes on power delivery?

ie. The 11 blade has all the same height vanes, while '+ type' wheel vanes are different, primary and secondary you could say.

Edit

Lol Keith you type faster than me..in my defence I have a 3 year old trying to wrestle me

Edit 2

My question still stands though

Vane design is reflected in the compressor map. It is something that someone choosing a turbo should look into to suit their driving style.

I found a link that is a bit more technical than "more vanes is better"
