I'm curious, is there any reason why most of the aftermarket wheels for BA onwards Falcons use 8.5" wide front wheels rather than the 8" wide which Ford/FPV use? Is it a visual improvement thing or is there a performance benefit to it?

This forum user got an extra 2 inches overall with this one weird trick.  Racing opponents hate it!

Bit of both.

Able to elaborate on what the performance gain is? Does the .5" enable a wider tyre to be used or is the same size tyre just being stretched on?

Also can run wider tyres, once I can afford a set of decent 255 rears (245 on right now).  Really need 9" or larger (so can run 265 legally) but mine were ultra light weight, strong and cheap so I couldn't say no.  Also went from 18" to 17" and have a nicer ride now to boot.

Why are you riding in the boot, Steve?
