Just got a call from the dealer asking if I want paint protection - glazing which is apparently a 6hr process to apply.

Is this true? Is it worth it. I was told by a formed Ford salesman it was not worth the cost.

I've been quoted $695.00 for the paint protection with "free" interior treatment thrown in.

what do you all think?

I've never been a believer in the whole paint protection thing. Had it done once, cost an arm and a leg, and didn't protect a damn thing when the car was exposed to red dirt in the NT only a year later. And as others have pointed out, watch out for blemishes after the glazing is applied.

I'll just stick to the polishing method. :D

l wouldnt bother at that price.

We had our previous car done for $150 using a German system that was actually pretty good for the year we owned the car after the treatment.

But $700, no way.

Thanks guys, as it turns out the lease Co were unable to get the paperwork sorted to add it to the order so I won't be getting it anyway.

I was offered the glazing as well, I think I will just use wax as I have always done.

I was also offered datadots (as put on HSVs etc) for $490, I am tempted, anyone offer any feedback?

Data dots are for insurance companies and police to identify your car after its stolen and disassembled/rebirthed by which time you wont want it back anyway.....IMO It wont make your car more secure. Spend the $500 odd on an alarm.

arent the datadots able to be removed with a sandback and respray?

If you have datadots on your car, and your car is stolen and not recovered you will get $5000 plus $2200 for insurance claims and stuff.

If your car is stolen and is recovered you will get $600 from datadots.

There are around 10,000 data dots sprayed all around the car, I don't think you can find them all. But if you do I think they shouldnt be too hard to remove.

IMO it is a good deal and I will be going with the dots.
