If I get the 8 id be wiling to spend around 5-10K but if I can get a nicely priced 6T, the budget would be higher in the sort of 10-15K range. First thing on any car I buy will be upgrading the anchors (Especially on the 6T).

For brakes, best and most cost effective option would be 2nd hand 6 pot Brembo fronts with some race pads (swapped for the track day). Pads are very important. No use buying huge calipers from some obscure manufacturer if proper Racespec pads are not readily available. Don't believe any quoted coeff friction numbers or Temp ratings quoted by manufacturers. Please PM me before you waste any money. I've tried most out there with varying results on my underbraked car.

 

Rears don't do much but a Territory upgrade is a cost effective option to 328mm.

 

Brake fluid use something with over 320degC boiling point. Flush/bleed before every track day.

what pads are decent these days ol nelson. im prob only going to upgrade xr brakes to some t3 slotted for the fronts. pads I cant make up my mind.

how often do you seriously plan on taking your "daily" to the track.

 

be realistic.

 

is it just going to be a once off until sh*t starts getting expensive? or what?

How expensive is expensive?

 

The one and only time I took my daily to the drags it farked the diff bushes which was $800 to fix then it used up my tyres which was only $320 and about $50 of fuel. Oh and it cost $100 to get in.

Total cost $1270 for 3 passes one of which was crap cos the car broke.

 

I'll be back there in a month but be farked if I had to pay that every time.

I'm interested in this also, but with Brembo 4 pot front and rears.. Also interested in what you recommend for heavy use street pads.

exactly !

 

circuit racing requires a lot more on going maintenance too as nelson said.

 

but wait till you run off the track thinking your mark skaife and hit a wall or I <3 Bananas your car up in the kitty litter! lel

Re race brake pads, I recommend the following for circuit:

 

(Bear in mind, I've tried many many brands. Best of the best.  Manufacturers/distributors have approached me for independent testing as I have a reputation for destroying them in my 1800kg, underbraked, front overtyred( front) biased trackpig car)

 

 

 

Project Mu H16-03, Hawk DTC70, Circo M207.

 

Endless also make quality pads. PC35 are a quality street track pad.

I don't care about noise or dust.

 

Worst I have used are QFM A1RM, Hawk Ceramic and the cheaper Forzas which are probably fine for Street, but not for multiple ABS circuit stops with 285 sub 100 tread wear fronts.
