k31th less WHY; more WOT Site Developer 29,001 Member For: 16y 7m 20d Gender: Male Location: Melbourne Posted 07/03/17 02:55 AM Share Posted 07/03/17 02:55 AM why would an auto-elec milk you dry? seems like an odd expectation... check the fuses first as that's easiest. got a multimeter? 1. check the switch on the headlight stalk that the voltage correctly switches when you turn the headlight switch. 2. take out the tail-light bulb and use the multimeter to check the voltage activation at the tail-light, too, when you switch the headlights on. If it's not working at the stalk, replace the switch/wiring as necessary to where you track the voltage activation failure. If it's working at the stalk/wiring and it's not working at the tail-end, then you'll likely have to trace the wiring to find where the issue occurs in the pathway. If it's working to the bulb, then the bulb likely has a failed filament and replacing the bulb(s) will fix it.
