pop it in the oven to soften the glue and then some vice-grips outside one of those plastic "grip a lid" thingo's to prevent damage to the knob and some sort of pipe to extend the torque capability of turning a vice-grip.

The baking tips (the specifics) are actually Luke's haha.

 

The plastic of the sticker gets sun-damaged, not heat-damaged (although I'm sure at a certain heat it would damage it).

I recently had advise from Core Shifters in the USA advising, that I should use a hair dryer to heat the glue up to get it off.

Might be a better option than the oven? With the heater you can direct it from under the gear knob.

The oven will do the whole knob and lever.
