So offset decreases when the number increases? So +40 is less than +30?

And is offset in mm? Seems stupid using metric and imperial concurrently.

When you increase run width, does it automatically alter the offset by a standard amount? Say of you went from stock 18" to stock 19", does the offset change?

Yep +40 is further into the middle of the car than +30.

Yep one of the wheel whores, jd or worm told me its in mm.

Understand it all, just the only thing I don't get is changing rim width. They just know what offset would work straight up lol, baffles me.

So for example 8.5in +30, if changing to a 9.5in, to get the same offset, would it be +18? I come to that offset because 1in is 25mm..so half inch (12.5mm) bigger each side (inside/outside of rim), so 30-12=18.

Correct jd or worm? Or wrong?

haha yeah kinda shy, that will make it the same on the inside of the car and poke another 25 mm outside the car

8.5 +30 would be 9.5 +43 and be the same on the guard side

think of it like this

if you had 8.5 and 9.5 both plus 30, the 9.5 would stick out 12mm more (because 1 inch 25.4mm so split 13mm each side) so you need to make offset less to bring the outside of the rim inwards , so +43 bring it back towards the strut side

So technically if I want to go to a 10.5" rear rim and I am currently on +35 I should be looking at a +42?

Ive got +40 9.5 with a 285 and there is no more room to the lower arm on the inside.
