You cant run 22s as the tyres required will either exceed the allowable increase in rolling diameter or not meet the minimum load rating for the car.

Maybe I should make a new thread with just info and facts and have it locked.

G'day gents.

EFSIX, I may be able to help you. MexicanBatman is a mate of mine, so I'll ask him to post an answer for you.

In the mean time - have a think about this. I have a set of 20 x 8.5 & 20 x 10 Vertini Magic Blackk on my FG GT sedan. I just found out today that the rears are a +38 offset.

They sit a mm or two outside the guard - not good for anyone with a substantially lowered car, mine's less than 1inch lower than standard - but they don't rub.

They also - most importantly - clear the control blade by about a cm. I have 275x30/20 Nitto Invos on the rear, which also helps because they seem to be a narrow fitting 275 - as opposed to a Federal 595 EVO which seems to be a relatively wide fitting 275.

I've also - in the last couple of days - ordered a set of Lenso D1Rs in 20 x 8.5 & 20 x 10 in a +42 offset for the rear. I had them pre-fitted today without tyres, just to check clearances.

They sit just a hair inside the guard, and clear the control blade by about 4mm - perfect.

So I'd imagine an 8inch wide rim should be somewhere between a +38, and maybe a +32 to clear the control blade on the inside and to sit inside the guard on the outside.

MexicanBatman may be able to clear things up more as he's done exactly what you want to do.

Cheers.

8.5 inch rim and +25 will still sit flush on rear...

If you run 22x9.5 or 22x9 they will fit on the rear. 22x9.5 +35 would be perfect.

cheers for the info,it has helped alot.also like to thank the mexican batman with his words of wisdom.thank you

I know running 22's is big for an fg but almost every other fg out there runs either the dark agents or the gt's in 19 & 20's,I wanted to be different but it seems like going 20's is a better and safer option??hmm not much choice in 22 either?

MexicanBatman: I will give Omar a call tomorrow and see what he says...

im after a a plain 5 spoke wheel with a dish,im going the white dish with the graphite centre on my slammed white f6,so should look quite good..

Those wheel arches are as full as an alterboy not long after mass. And that's nto an easy job. Filling the wheel arches that is.

They were 22x8.5+35 fronts had a 5mm hub centric spacer

Legalities aside, believe it or not it actualy drove quite nicely with them wheels, it was a very smooth freeway ride, but it did scrape on the front due to being low, a bit more camber and it wouldn't have... Also wasn't any slower in a straight line either, they were very light weight for 22's 1.5-2.5kg heavier then the factory 19's I did lots of acceleration tests and managed many sub 5 0-100km/h taking off in 2nd!
