What would be considered ok for a 19x8.5" and 19x9.5" wheel with no tyre? Also thanks for pointing out that this is a Koya distributed wheel Their site confirm the offset options: http://www.koya.com.au/?cars=isr5-19-custom-fitvery safe will fit with ease, just to throw more confusion, have you thought about 9.5+30 allround wud sit flush front and rear with concave front and back, just a though as I hate the flat look of a front rimValid point mate and yours looks very tough with big concave both front and rear. I prefer the staggered look and this rim does have some concave on the 8.5" rim so hopefully it wont look too bad. There are similar to the Stance wheel, but with a wider spoke. I was looking at the Stance wheels originally but they are very common and I don't like how the spokes don't go right to the edge, which makes the wheels look small in 19". FIXR7 Member 116 Member For: 14y 6m Gender: Male Location: Perth Posted 26/06/13 10:35 AM Share Posted 26/06/13 10:35 AM Unfortunately that's the problem with modern car design dictated by f*ckwits who think everything has to be small to be economical and "green".So, a large car like a Falcon keeeps getting it's wheel arches made bigger so the whole car looks smaller. This means on an FG, certains designs in 18"(ones without long spokes that go all the way to the tyre) will look too small.B-series could get away with18's but generally speaking, an FG needs 19's as a minimum. vxr50t Member 134 Member For: 11y 7m 14d Posted 26/06/13 12:19 PM Share Posted 26/06/13 12:19 PM (edited) wow no wonder they were stretched! a 10 +3 is the same as 12 +28a 335/30R18 would've been a better choice, much closer to overall diameter of stock 18s and it won't throw out your speedo by muchbut whether or not that will rub on the guard is something else and most tyre places wont have that size tyre. it also limits brand choice as most companies don't do that size18s will always look small when you stretch tyres on 'em because you lose a lot of sidewall heightif you compare stock 18s with 19s there's very little difference in overall size if you include the tyreive gone from 19s to 18s and I don't regret it at all. if anything the ride is more comfortable as theres more tyre to absorb bumps on the road Edited 26/06/13 12:23 PM by vxr50t
FIXR7 Member 116 Member For: 14y 6m Gender: Male Location: Perth Posted 26/06/13 12:56 PM Share Posted 26/06/13 12:56 PM Of course there's very little difference if you include the tyre because generally you want the same rolling diameter. The pic of the two different wheels are noticebly different I reckon and especially so if you show the whole car. Use a wheel with a big dish and therefore a smaller centre and it looks smaller still.I agree though vxr50t, I would rather actually use an 18 or even a 17 on my GS because, quite simply the performance is better with them. I also prefer a bit more sidewall too but, as I'm likely to use a wheel with a substantial dish I don't think I can use anything less than 19" that won't look too small. Got sick of my wheels visually looking small having a dark center against a stepped polished lip wasnt very appealing. Ended up going a koya racing 18x9.5 +20 all round in matte black
vxr50t Member 134 Member For: 11y 7m 14d Posted 26/06/13 01:35 PM Share Posted 26/06/13 01:35 PM (edited) Fair enough, I agree the style of dish can make a rim look smaller eg meisters with stepped lip compared to vskfs with straight lip.a dark centre will make the wheel look smaller with the shiny dish.It all depends on the look /what you're trying to achieve, I'm just saying 18s can be done if the tyre isn't stretched and a touch of low would finish it off nicely.I reckon fat tyres look tougher than skinny rubber but within reason, not 4wd spec fat tyre.Sent from my GT-I9300 using Motorculture mobile app Edited 26/06/13 01:36 PM by vxr50t
