The sidewall has more of a role than that extra 10mm of rubber on the roadI'd say you'll be getting pretty close to the control blade on the inside with the 285 aswell. I am not overly fussed on minor differences in grip as it is my wife's daily so it has plenty of grip 99% of the time. I am more trying to match tyre diameters as it has thrown a DSC fault which I put down to the tyre sizes.
