Ok guys, I just got myself a new FG mkII XR6T sedan. I have started reading this thread but 2000 posts takes a while.

I am probably looking at a 19x8.5 and 19x10 combination running 245/35/19 and 285/30/19. What offset range should I be looking at to sit close to the guards but not foul on them and without rolling? I'm not interested in doing work to the guards or running spacers etc. Is it possible to get a 10" rim with a 285 on the rear of an FG sedan without guard rolling or suspension clearance issues?

Also why does everyone seem to run 275 on the rear when 285/30/19 are a better match to 245/35/19?

On rear you want +40! As long as you don't go really low then you will be able to get a 275/30 on the rear (prob even 35 profile) without any guard work. Once you go to 285 then just a roll and slight pump will clear.

As for the fronts anywhere between +25 and +35 is generally pretty safe. The +35 will be super safe even if the car is lowered heaps. +25 should work even with a bit of low, just might need the inner plastic moulded out a little (maybe, it should be right without it)

Here's a calculator I found to work out overall rolling diameter. ((width x profile(%) x 2) + (wheel diameter x 25.4)

So doing this a 245/35/19 = 654.1mm rolling diameter and 275/30/19 = 647.6mm. Now a 285/30/19 = 653.6mm. So going off that a 245/35 and 285/30 is the same so yes a 285 would be better. I think you might have read a lot of posts that people run 275/30 on a 20" wheel

At the end of the day though these are just rough figures and I've heard of differences in width of a 275 tyre being up to 20mm wider than each other because different brands have different shoulders etc.So when shopping around probably consider the width of the actual tyre when choosing between 275 and 285

Bellato 10 +36 is the same as 9.5 +30 that's why I went with those but +40 will fit too.

There isn't much to gain rolling FG rear maybe 1 to 2mm.

My rear tyres are closer to a 295 even though it says 285, when measured its 292mm.

Yea I agree but you're safer to run a higher offset (even if its only by 4mm) to avoid having to do guard work

I reckon there's more to be had in fg guards than people make out. There's not as much as n series but I got at least 5-10mm doing mine

You rolled your own guards bellato? I got PhillB from jdmst to do mine and there really wasn't much there to roll.

I asked him to take it as far as he could without cracking the paint but would be hard to judge the limit unless you have a temp gun for the paint.

just bought some wheels from USA, fedex over in 4 days, sh*ts over auspost lol

pics to come soon when this rain pisses off, specs are:

20x9 +18 front - test fitted, lil bit of poke but no tyres fitted yet so wasn't a true measure.

20x10 +18 rear - sits in around 15mm or so, no tyres either so wasn't a true measure (might use bolt on spacers if needed)

Going on fpv f6 fg ute :)

as requested mate :) although I need to lower it in the rear more. I have kingspring FOR-303SL in them, should I reset the standard leaf springs? I have them in the shed still..

I think it has Ultra Lows (aka SSL) in the front.

removed mud flaps while the wheels were off. wheels specs below...

20x9 +18 front with 245/35/20

nice ride there evo!

Would a 18 x 255/40 fit on a 9.5"? Thinking of 18 x 8.5 +20-30 running 255/40 on front and then swapping to 18 x 9.5 +30 on the rear to finish them off (just the tyre obviously not rotating rims).
