Looks like they are going to respray the whole car. When I was there the other day they had a GT on the showroom floor that had the same finish as mine. New car salesman said the more people complain about the finish of their paint work the better. What was actually wrong and how did they finally agree as I need to tackle this issue now with my bumpers as I am not happy Jan! They go into a grey type colour in bright light. other manufacturers are pretty close with their bumpers. Can cope if not exact but looks pretty stupid in strong sunlight. Also found they side of the bonnett(under top) they missed painting the top coat (not as noticable as I have a black car).

New car salesman said the more people complain about the finish of their paint work the better.:o It is bloody annoying forking out plenty and getting faults, especially in the paint. I had a big drama with a Panther Mica VS SS Commodore, they ended respraying it twice to get it right, then I sold it straight away :hiwelcome: My T was Narooma Blue, and the paintwork was perfect, although the engine block and suspension components wern't painted, and there wasn't much paint on the rear inner front guards where you can see in when you open the door. The GT in Blueprint, and the paint is perfect in all light, the suspension components ARE painted, as is the engine block. Had a scratch in the left rear wheel and gouge in front right centre cap, warranty fix, good painters, bad painters, luck of the draw. Don't take excuses and crap from FMC, there first line of defence is sometimes Denial, but that doesn't mean they won't change their opinion if you scream Loud enough, and Long enough. Shouldn't have to though, all I've had from Ford service is excellence, some a little above and beyond the call of duty.

Tell Cro to get his bloody feet off your car!My rear wing looks a lighter shade of Phantom than the rest of the car and I can see the sanding marks from the orbital sander peeking through what appears to be very thin paint. In to the dealer in about a fortnight for its 15,000 km service, see what they have to say.

Ford rep took photos of car to take back to Ford so his boss could have a look. Apparently paint finish is acceptable. Yeah right, what a load of bullsh*t. If you guys have a look at all your cars I tjink you will find your paint finish is the same. While I was waiting checked other fords out and they were exactly the same. You need to get your car in the right shade of light to pick it up. Said to the Ford rep my narooma Au xr8 had a better finish than this. Apperently they are still spraying the cars the same way. Still waiting to hear back from dealer. Will be ringing them Monday.

Had the 15,000 service last Monday and the dealer took one look at the wing and said they would repaint it. The service guys removed the wing during the service (taped over the holes in the bootlid) and gave me the car back. Dropped in Friday to have it re-fitted and it looks perfect now.The paint shop guy made the comment that mine was only the second wing he had been asked to respray by a customer despite his observation that 90% of the XRs having crappy paint jobs (not up to standard) on the bumpers, skirts and wings. Their attitude was that if the bits did not match, they should be resprayed. Excellent service from them and flawless new paintwork. Now that is what customer service should be like.
