My cars back to the dealers on Tuesday to have the paint finish checked by a Ford Rep. Looks like they are going to respray the whole car. When I was there the other day they had a GT on the showroom floor that had the same finish as mine. New car salesman said the more people complain about the finish of their paint work the better.

Yeah. I had some minor paint finish flaws myself. The whole car was actually quite good in terms of quality, but unfortunatly under certain light (mostly in shade) my rear bumper is a different shade of blood orange. When I got my incar DVD put in, the installer said to me "So it looks like Expensive Daewoo aren't the only ones with paint finish problems" (he drove a crummydore).. My service manager just told me to organise an appointement with their paint shop to fix it. Oh and one edge of my fuel lid wasn't painted properly, with only the undercoat applied. Aparts from these, as I said before the paint job is quite good.

My car has a rough topcoat at the front of the left qtr panel.

They resprayed that section last week. I was without the car for three bloody days.

I get it back and it's worse than when I gave it to them. And the front bar is loose.

Also, there are little glitches like grains of sand under the paint and topcoat that you can see but not feel all over my car, courtesy of the factory. The dealer told me that Ford won't do anything to fix these unless "there are more than five impurities in the paint per panel".

What a load of bullsh!t.

I've just paid over $50k for this thing and now Ford are telling me that it's OK for me to accept shoddy paintwork.

Anyone buying a new car from FoMoCo should ammend their contract to say that the car is not acceptable with sh!tty paintwork.

I love the car but at this point in time will never buy a new car from Ford again.

we have a big splodge about the size of a barcode on our rear driverside door. I will just go see if I can take a picture of it. It might be a bit hard for the camera to pick up though.

Ok the camera cannot pick it up, but I will describe it. it is like someone put blueprint paint on the end of a paintbrush and just splodged it on. It's quite noticable but the camera couldn't pick it up beacause of the reflection of the driveway.

I have the same sort of splodge on the bonnet of mine, also blue print. Looks like someone touched it while it was still wet. Depending on how the light hits it goes from almost invisible to standing out like db's. Also have orange peel effect around the headlight scoops on the front bumper and grit in the clear coat in a couple of places. I'm just worried they'd do more harm than good trying to fix it.

What concerns me more is how soft the paint seems to be, like it wasn't baked long enough or somthing? Seems every time I drive I get another stone chip. (Might be a slight exageration but it is really annoying). Anyone else having problems with the durability of the finish?
