Hi there forum people.

I have asked this question before and did not seem to get far so I have decided to give it a go again.....

my fg mk1 xr6t has a habit, no it's not a habit, it does this all the time of rev hunting when cold.

its when you have started up, got onto the open road ( I live in the country)  and you are cruising along at 1500rpm on a steady throttle and it starts rev hunting up and down about 500 rpm judging by what the tachometer says and it's also accompanied by an intense vibration when it drops into top gear.

only when cold, never when warmed up.

the other issue I have is how do you get decent cold air out of the A/C?

jesus it's pathetic.

the temperature sensor seems to be fairly accurate, I'm starting to think the compressor is not big enough.

Any ideas anyone?

Cheers

Lewis

Is the car tuned? Auto or manual?
Rev hunting can be tune related/ throttle sensor-body/ or a vac leak amongst many others.
Falcon aircons are known for being bloody fantastic. Mine is icy cold even on a 40+ day while giving it the beans. Get it checked out by an aircon bloke

dunno too much about rev hunting on Fgs. need more info? stock? tuned? auto man.

with the AC we need to get the obvious questions out of the way but have you had it looked into yet for leaks etc? does the ac clutch kick in when you hit the button? my ac in my fg slowly stopped being cold. later discovered that there was no gas left as It leaked out.

I suspect the car has been tuned at some stage as when I bought it there was major and expensive exhaust and inlet work done.

I think the dealer stuffed up the tune when he reflashed the tune when there was an issue with the dash warning lights coming on.

I think I should get it retuned and go to an A/C shop.

I am in the blue mountains in NSW, any recommendations for a tuner and A/C shop in western Sydney?

cheers

Cms in prestons or hoontune in hoxley park. Cms is 3mins from M7 exit or 45seconds after tuning. Did your car come with a Xcal/sct device?  If not look around for a second hand one or buy new at cms for $700 plus tuning.

Hoontune uses HP software so no xcal needed which will be cheaper.

As for urrev hunting while cold im guessing auto and 100kph zone? Could be the car dropping to 5th then back to 6th as its not warm yet.
