If your in Perth Robby (Monsta torque) is the man..... also depending on your hp you may be better of with the ZF hybrid (mustang input shaft setup)

and with all ZF's the key to its survival is 50% box & 50% tune.... BUT! if you are going to seriously abuse it or have no mechanical common sense then go 3 speed, with over 30 years of R&D & billet everything of the shelf a safe option for some ppl.

mustang shaft how does this work? just throw it in? modification?

3 speed you mean th400?

Yeah bout  60 70 ks put your foot in to it and and drops down a gear that is kick down  . The mustang shaft wich is the 6r80 transmission wich the new rangers have you need pump some different bearings and bush that supports intermediate shaft into the back of the 6r80 input needs to be made and torque converter modified and a few other things im probably missing

The ZF can't handle kickdown WOT shifts with lifted power, ALL ZF builders will not warrant failure from doing Kickdown abuse even with $2000 billet input shafts... get smart and select a gear before laying into it buddy ;)

a correctly built & TUNED zf can handle big big power WOT upshifts but not all ZF tunes are equal !!!

I'm going to leave this here as it will clarify for lthwpn and also provide advice for anyone else reading it.

The message Jet is trying to get across is that you should not be doing the automatic equivalent of a clutch dump.

If you're partially loaded in third and then floor it to kick back into second at 70kph then that is the equivalent of a clutch dump.

Joe meant that there is a difference between driving a car hard with sympathy and deliberately trying to break a car.

He's also the cheapest going in Perth I've found, I've called heaps of transmission shops etc, no where comes close. Most are 5-6K for a rebuild to stock spec

yer I was going to say shouldnt leave car in D then just boot it, the kick down with anything more than stock will leave you in a tree or wall. scary as I <3 Bananas man.

I always manually drop it down into the gear I want then boot it.

eek

aww are you saying I can't constantly make my box kick down to 2nd? it's so much fun and it's how I wrecked the tailshaft and transmission output flange on the way home from buying the car I've come to realise....

Actually I got a legit question for @JETURBO that isn't stupid, when you dyno these things what do you do, regarding the kickdown switch that is? Do you mash it to the kickdown switch in 4th then when the roadspeed is above 90 go past it?

@Box stock T. I think im more suited to a manual with a good clutch...
