"the issue is it only measures between where the tip of the multimeter contacts the cable/termin"

What do you mean? As in if the cable is faulty it won't be testing that?

I did actually have an issue previously with starting however I replaced the alternator and battery and it has a rock solid voltage now.

I'll price up some coils anyway.

Ford coils are around the $38 each and def the best option mate, $230 for the 6 is pretty good when they last 120,000km or more.

think the vdo are $140 for the 6 through repco

At that price I think I'll just buy a set. $230 is fine, I just assumed they would be more.

Not even worth me spending a few hours testing them. If there is no change I'll just re-sell my old ones.

Basically you need perfect contact between tip of multimeter lead and what you are testing. otherwise you are testing something through dirt which either won't work or will show a fault.

have you ever attached a booster pack to a battery and find it won't start the car unless you move the crocodile clips around on the battery terminals? this is an example of a dirty connection but once the crocodile clip gets proper contact it can deliver the amps.

I say all this because falcons seem quite sensitive to voltage issues but definitely still do the coils.

If no change keep them as a spare for the incase moment lol.

Most people on here say do plugs and coils together for future reference!

I had VDO in for about 150,000km and I like to give it a bootful every day (15PSI ish tune)...replaced with new VDO (and motorcraft plugs) just recently.

Would go genuine coils if you are happy to pay the extra just for that added peace of mind, but I'm happy with the VDO to save the coin.
