The AMS units are brilliant for drag racing where compounding initial boost on launching can be set to very precise amounts and is used on alot of big boosted drag car's like this

This was *Beep* before the AMS1000

and you can hear it struggling for traction

It could be. Perhaps the stock traction control could be tuned to suit a street situation? I don't know as I haven't tried.

Following that I haven't spent enough time reading the manual to make an opinion and even then it would just be an educated guess.

Jet has posted a couple of examples. Maybe he has had some form of experience with this product?

Edit: I assume there would be a valid reason (ie stock system is incapable) people use this product rather than a stock ford pcm for boost control.

Last time I checked the AMS setup was 4 figures ... and controlled with CO2 ... or am I thinking of something else?

If I'm on the correct one, pointless on a street car

Correct, we run one on my mates race car and refilling the Co2 in the car is part of turning the car around between runs.

Not for street cars, but when working in unison with 2 step n Slider clutch, makes for good traction control when you get it right
