My power steering pump has died and subsequently drowned my alternator in oil.....short of stripping it apart, what is the best way of cleaning it?

It's still working fine but I'm not sure dropping it in a bath of degreaser is gonna do it much good. ....:/

Hmmm I had a similar dilemma on a BA I sold recently. It had a weeping hose so it wasn't too bad but I left it.

Brake cleaner?

Maybe pulling it apart would be the only option.

To ensure it won't die, pulling it apart is pretty much the only option as everything else won't get in where the oil did, and if it does, it may not get rid of it.

Degrease with a detergent based degreaser and rinse thoroughly with demineralised water. Works on multi millions motors/alternators.
