It's so cheap compared to engine work, I do mine at 7,500 even though that comes around about every ten to fifteen weeks for me. I only run 98. Also worth considering: if a manufacturer can extend recommended oil change intervals it makes their car look cheaper to run - lower total cost of ownership. Things like that turn up in car comparison articles or adverts. If they can design an engine that will live happily through the warranty period with 20,000km oil changes, I imagine they love to spec that in the owner's manual! I doubt you would ever find that sort of interval in a performance car handbook.

Quote An oil change on the car will run about $1,400 with parts and labor, but with the additional “services” and fluid checks recommended by Ferrari this experience could cost in the neighborhood of $9,000. Quote Scheduled Maintenance 15,000 miles: Oil change and air filters. Not bad. 30,000 miles: Spark plugs, fuel filters, and timing chain (an engine-out service—ouch). 15 years (mandatory): Seatbelt pretensioner replacement. Quite an interesting article: http://www.roadandtrack.com/car-culture/features/a6327/the-boot-high-maintenance/ Edited 08/11/16 11:15 AM by -Stever-

To extend the oil change interval , they increase the engine oil volume.

Ferrari forums seemed to mention people mostly doing yearly changes because of this.
