But personally, I would definitely change it and it's not a super hard job

Info is in there. Do it when you change the oil so you can take the filter off. You don't have to change the oil but I did. If you're going aftermarket line I found it easier to not worry about the 24mm spanner to hold the line in place I just took the oil pressure switch off with a deep 22mm socket then used the deep 24mm to undo the line. Once you get the fitting out you have to get the screen out. That's fun without circlip pliers.

Do you centrifuge you're own oil? I wouldn't bother. Oil is a cheap insurance on an engine build or replacement. Penrite is a good oil. Not the best. I use it in my Prado. Hpr5 diesel 5w40 Oil comes out black after 5000km. It's diesel maybe that's why. Can't smell diesel in the oil though. The oil certainly smells different to petrol contaminated oil. Why is dirty? Doesn't do any short trips so it gets to operating temp and stays there for most of the day. I'd rather change oil more often then fork out $15k for a new long motor for this rig. Same goes for my falcon. I'd rather not have to pull the motor out cause I cbf to change the oil on time or I was too tight to spend $40 on an oil change.

Mines about 14mths old,but ive only done about 5000km.should be ok? Has the factory fill in it,magna crap. I change it at 7500k intervals so it might be a few mths more yet.I take it for a drive most weeks, mostly a run up the highway and back and some stop, start in traffic.couple of long drives a year. Also the whole 5000k oil change is out of consideration for the turbo. whack some gulf western syn-x 3000 10w-40 in it and you'll be right. cheap and cheerful Edited 07/11/16 10:45 PM by skidxr6t
