I have a 2004 xr6 turbo car. It has just started cutting out while running, not stalling but like that, foes not matter traveling around 50km even sitting on 100 makes no difference, does it randomly but frequently. The rev counter goes down and up but no lights come on. Any ideas as to what this could be. I have a few but would love to hear from any with similar problems

Sounds like a fuel pump issue.

It's 12 years old now so is probably on the way out.

revs go down while car maintains the same speed or the car loses speed in the process of the revs going down?

Had a similar issue over the weekend, car started and idled fine to warm up. Selected reverse and bam stalled, did it repeatedly and was idling at around 500, had to drive with both feet (auto) and hold revs at 1k while sitting at lights... was fine after 10mins.

most car auto shops will plug a scantool in to the cars obd2 port for free and it will show any fault codes the car might have, if any. some mechanics will also do it for free but for example RAC charges $99 to do this haha!
