It would make no difference if it was fine thread the whole way up. 

 

It may not be made like that from factory but it makes no difference in a practical application.

Maybe someone should point out the benefits of using a longer coarse thread into cast iron vs using a shorter fine thread into a steel alloy.

 

Maybe they can also mention why cheaper iron is used in mass production of turbine housings vs more expensive materials and production methods and why cast iron nuts are not feasible.

 

After all these are the reasons that that the studs are made the way they are.

 

This would actually add substance to the thread and answer the ops question rather than useless, devalued comments like "Google it" or "there is a reason for it" with no explanation.

Phuck me lads it's $50 for a full pack of studs,nuts,stainless gaskets,copper washers,oil flange gaskets to do the job properly 

 

what's with you khunts its half a tank of fuel ffs

The studs are M10x1.25 on one side and M10x1.5 on the other. The 1.5 end goes into the manifold and the 1.25 allows for a finer thread and more torque on the turbo side.
