Don't go colder, you'll run into several issues, while not major, will decrease engine life and increase fuel consumption. On that note don't flog ya car until it's warmed up! Fans need to be adjusted to turn on at the correct temp

One thing I picked up over the years is don't trust a factory sender for diagnosis especially temp senders and oil switches. A motor can be too hot by the time it goes up and there could be not enough oil well before the light comes on.

Have been thinking about going back to a stock one due to reading about fuel consumption etc. Should I return to a stock thermostat?

But car will need a retune and fan setting adjusted

Fuel consumption is tune related not temp related, but the tune is temp related so it affects the fuel consumption if that makes sense. All things being right nothing drastic would change by heating your engine up a few degrees.

Edit: Agree on fan tuning though Edited 05/10/16 01:45 PM by Puffwagon
