Hey guys - not sure if this is FG only related - but has anyone had the Headlight Warning Alert pop up on the dash board messaging (centre of dash board) when they are set to Auto (as in auto lights on in the dark)?  I've had it come up occassionally.  Today whilst driving extensively with headlights ON in manual lights ON mode during the day (was foggy going up Lake Mountain) - reached Warburton on the home run and the alert came up.  Would not go away with a simple power OFF of the engine.  Stopped at Warburton for maybe a 20 min break and came back and the car was okay - no Headlight Warning Alert on dash whilst lights set to Auto mode.

Wondering if something is heat sensitive - so when it cools down - does not trigger the warning anymore?

Cant really help...but I have had that message come up a few times before. I thought it was my battery cause when weak/low it does weird faults on that middle section. But changed to a 620cca and still did it one time.

It would only happened with auto light on and parking in my garage (straight after I turn the key off).

Thanks Pete

That's a lead I'll follow up (pardon the pun).  My neg lead on the battery keeps coming loose - to the point where I could not start one evening (was running late for meeting and fark me what a time for it to happen).  Luckily had the tool box with spanner in the boot at the time.  Think I'll check that its not loose again.

give it a clean while you're there, I'd hedge a bet with the gap that it has oxidised a little and the connection is less than perfect.

I found some fine sandpaper does the best job.

That's a good idea Robbo - thanks

White vinegar also does wonders to our electric water jug at work - it was stained dark as in its innards (they wanted to throw it out until I did the boiling diluted vinegar thing in the jug) :roflmbo:

Another useless tip.

White vinegar, bi carb soda and lemon juice is really good for cleaning bathrooms etc and getting stains out of your skin.
