Peppy_t92 Silver Donating Members 748 Member For: 11y 8m 8d Gender: Male Location: Liverpool Posted 06/10/16 12:40 AM Author Share Posted 06/10/16 12:40 AM Thanks KeithFirst one is an 08 Maloo, about 3 years ago I initially done a full exhaust, Vcm OTR and tune, the car made 272rwkw, the Commonwhore world would say "really, is that it" with people claiming 300rwkw with the same mods, yet this car was chopping them from a stand still and from a roll, so go figure...About 6 months later it quickly transformed into a cam kit also, I done my homework, lots of calculations and used my engine analyser programs to come up with the VCM7 cam to be pretty much the largest cam you would go without fly cutting pistons, as well as it being reasonably well mannered for the street and actually having a decent mid range torque... (234/234@0.05" 0.596" lift, 112 LS)Different people/shops have different opinions on what should be included in a cam kit, mine generally consist of the cam, dual springs, new retainers and locks, pushrods, rollmaster timing kit, arp balancer bolt, arp cam bolts and often an under drive balancer kit (as the standard ones are commonly worn or split)Doing a cam change in car is a pain, but do able.. obviously the whole front of the engine has to come off, drop the sump to get the oil pump off, a/c condenser has to be pulled up and tied to the bonnet to avoid having to re-fill it, and the lifters can't be changed unless the heads come off on the LS, so dowels have to be used to avoid dropping a lifter during the cam change process.. we also installed an NPC twin plate setup to hold 450+kwAnyway after all of this, it sounds mean! Like super fat for a street car.. IMO lolhttps://vimeo.com/185733170That's straight after the install without modifying the tune, the tune alters the sound a little but still the same crackleAfter that it made 317rwkw and just under 550ftlb torque, beautiful car to drive in all conditionsCouldn't stop there... we threw some gas and a fuel system at it!!Fuel setup is a twin denso300 intank system with Holley fuel rail, -8 braided Teflon feed line and -6 return and x-spurt 1000cc injectors.. nitrous kit is a NOS kit with the throttlebody spacer and power shot solenoids..I set it up so that when the system is armed I can take timing out of the higher load cells to be safe with the gas when the switch is on and doesn't require a seperate tune for use without the gas, as well as being hooked up to a NOS window switch which you can set to come on at over a certain throttle position and only between two set rpm points, so say full throttle and 2500-6000rpm... what a rushIt made just shy of 400kw and 750ftlb of torque with a 120ish HP shot on e85Awesome car, it hasn't been to the drags because it won't hook up, and he has broken 2 t56's and a TR6060.. who said they were un breakable?Ohh and we also went to 3.45 diff gears to complement the torque, because it just kept frying with the standard 3.7's abit of fun from a few Powerplay's ago 4 Link to comment Share on other sites More sharing options...

He has had his days of spending money modifying cars so he's more then happy with how the car is, completely stock... I convinced him to let me play with it, so I installed a replacement k&n filter and just gave it a basic tune to increase throttle response, touch up the ZF and maybe give it some more boost haha.. for those that don't know, these cars are limited to 60* throttle angle, instead of the max available 83*).. the intercooler setup, or lack there of was the let down, with Intake air temps soaring, so I was conservative... it went 12.1@116 with a lazy 2.4 60", just on the standard Dunlop tyres and driving it off the line, (he didn't want to break anything)Almost 3 years with the tune and it's still going strong, he drives it most weekends, and isn't exactly gentle with ithttps://vimeo.com/185887598https://vimeo.com/185887662 3 Link to comment Share on other sites More sharing options...
