same :bs: different name.

I'm glad you didn't pay 4k for one...

You can tell what yours is by looking at it as exhaust manufacturers tag their pipes, usually. Look it up with the manufacturer or ask the person who added the modification to the car.

Exhausts that run massive power can be bought brand new off the shelf for like $2000 give or take a few hundred.

A $4k exhaust would want to give me wristys or be made from pure titanium and weigh next to nothing!

My brand of exhaust is a XForce, catback apparently from the local exhaust shop. He said if I need to improve it even better I would need to get the upgrade and that would cost $4k.

I have heard of full custom stainless systems costing $5k but I don't know why you'd bother when companies like X-Force make ok cheap ones.  Turbo Falcons that run 9 second quarters don't need $4k exhausts.

Hard to really say if this exhaust guy is trying to fleece you HARD or if it's a top quality custom job he's quoting you.  It would want to be twin 3" or a big single 4" stainless system with excellent performing cats (ie could flow to 1000hp) and sound like angles singing for that price!  Oh and zero fitment issues (plus give you wristys).

When you consider that there is about a grand worth of materials in a 4 inch mild steel system, all said and done, $4k seems a bit steep for my liking.

For that money you could buy a sweet welder and other tools, do a welding course and make it yourself!!

Of course this isn't for everyone and that's why we pay a little more to get a hassle free, high quality, guaranteed proven, walk in and walk out experience.

I concur with Stever, there would want to be a month's worth of wristies for that price.

It's honestly less than a day's work for a bloke who knows the tools.

A months worth?

Never ending supply on demand.

I'm glad you came here and asked first John.

Maybe in that $4k there's an xcal, walbro 460 injectors, flapper mod and a farkload of dyno time to get that 4 inch dump and cat working.

You guy's crack me up

not everything is $100 in the car game and yes a "good" stainless system tig welded is expensive, no mot an X force but if you start adding varex mufflers it can stack up
