You already have a tune in your car. Buy the software and log the I <3 Bananas out of your current tune. Log it with HP and understand exactly which tables are in effect at what points. ( the HP forum has heaps of info on basic tuning).

Plus you can get a stock tunes, plus mildly modified tunes of some guys to show you what there doing.

I was very close to going down this path, and was pretty confident I could get a tune setup and working fairly quickly.

Is the current hp tuner logging good enough that you don't need a sct any longer? I have read some older threads that suggested a sct x2 or newer just to datalog.

I'd love to be able to tell the bloke I just chopped at Racewars that I tuned the car myself so I support DIYing it.  Not sure if I'll ever actually learn but it would be fun.  Could end in tears though as was said, so take it slowly, get advice when needed and enjoy the journey!

Jeez I just reread what I wrote before.

Of course the car is already tuned...

We all have our hurdur moments I spose. Insert lame excuse here [   :L16:   ]. @Ralph Wiggum Shouldn't you have told me I was being a dumbass?

In any case just read the tune with a hp tuner interface and save it as a known good tune.

Then mess around with tuning it yourself after you have an idea of what to do.

You will get answers on the hp tuners forum if you aren't sure what stuff means.

Or just be happy with the car as it is and save the $1000 for beer!!! :drinks:

What happens when you're the one who gets chopped then steve? :stirthepot:

You can actually download HP tuners and look at tunes without purchasing it if you are interested. I had my tune pulled by somebody else who then emailed it to me so I've been able to compare it to stock files and what not.
