95 is 100% fine for a stock vehicle.

All 98's (that don't contain ethanol) are equal (essentially).

Use 98 if you're tuned for it. Use 95/98 if you're stock.

If you're tuned for any other fuel (E85, E10 etc) then use that specifically when that tune is uploaded to your car.

Have fun!

My car is a FG MKII and sunshine ford said it will run better on 95, I have notice the smoother idle hot or cold, so will try 95 again just not sure which 95 is best, like everyone swears by BP ultimate for 98, it sounds awful on Caltex 98 and average on She'll optimax. The car is stock just had k&N air filter and previous owner out sport exhaust, so that would be stock correct

My credit card rewards system is about $600 cash back, or I can redeem it for more than that in BP vouchers...might only be getting BP for a while :)

95 ftw

I despise 98

And I'd still disagree with Ralph on that one

Not all cars are knock limited on 95 so not always more power but on our cars and if tuned for it then you will get more,

However not that much more as my anecdotal evidence suggests

With my pfc tuning I found I had to remove about 4 degrees up top changing from 98 to 95 on a tuned jap car.

I had to pull around 8 degrees running 91 to prevent knock. It was slow and it sucked and would recommend 1/16.

The same timing was used in all tests.

95 can go in my wife's 2012 lancer and I'll continue with 98 or better in my ford.

You have a valid point however MattyP, a car will only run as good as the timing allows.

If it won't knock on 95 then a slower burning fuel like 98 won't be better and could cause more heat in some cases as the longer burn will continue to propagate further past tdc.

I'm just saying fuel to suit the application

I mean if 94e10 is so bad I'm sure there is no way anyone could make 350kw without knocking right?

like I said before 98 is safer but not by that much, 98 is essentially popular due to rigorous marketing

A stock car shouldn't be knocking at all for the fuel it's designed for, if it was I'd be taking it back straight away as something is horribly wrong

you want a good fuel for real KW Gainz it's gotta be e85

Fortunately as it was such a "low" power car, being n/a, it was super easy to log it on the brake with winlog.

I think it took only 3 laps around the block at various loads to fix it up.

It ended up with a ported and modded head, zorst and comp was 220psi.

It made stuff all gains running e85 over 98 according to my butt even with modified timing and fuel to suit.

I guess the compression wasn't there for e85.

Tl;dr another guy measures his engine gains with his butt hole. It pulled a whopping 6 secs to 100 mostly done in 1st! Btr ftw!

just done it for the smell then haha

nah agreed, the benefits really don't shine unless you have high compression and/or boost

I really don't like running petrol on my celica as I still have an issue with blowby and e85 will really reduce the risk of knock (and pick more power up)

I really want to make a high comp falcon motor as my guesstimates lead me to believe with the right tuning I can get similar economy to petrol on cruise and get a heap more power everywhere. One can dream I suppose
